The Department of Learning Design met with the Faculty Partners in December. Five faculty members with some experience in teaching online (one selected by each School plus one at-large) invited by the DLD Associate Dean on consultation with the School Deans/Assistant Deans enjoyed a enriching conversation on a variety of topics.
DLD has long felt the need for a group of faculty advisors who can problem solve with us and help us to better adapt our systems to meet their needs. This group will meet on a regular basis with the Distance Education group as Partners in developing strategies for design and development of courses, selecting technology solutions, and participating in other key decisions that impact faculty practice and effectiveness in teaching and learning.
The purpose of this group will be:
- To engage in the discussions in DLD that are critical to faculty practice and that help us build a common understanding of what is quality in CPS learning.
- To assist DLD in making key decisions within the capabilities of technology and support issues.
- Inform DLD of issues of importance and concern to faculty and help provide conduits of information back to faculties in each school.
- Help DLD determine ways we could better provide assistance in teaching and learning with technology to the faculty.
- Participate in knowledge sharing after conferences and projects; build faculty expertise in instructional design and teaching with technology.
