CPS welcomed Roxanne Gonzales, a nationally-recognized expert in adult learning as the new academic dean on March 28.
Gonzales, who earned a doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, has more than 28 years of higher education leadership in the United States and overseas, and brings extensive experience leading adult learning programs in face-to-face, online, blended and independent study models.
Most recently she served as dean at Park University Distance Learning, based in Kansas City, which serves 22,000 learners in undergraduate and graduate programs at 38 campus centers in 21 states and worldwide through online learning. She just completed a year as president of the Association for Continuing Higher Education. As an adult undergraduate learner at the University of Maryland, University College, Gonzales went on to earn her master’s degree from Creighton University and her doctorate in higher education administration.
“Her references commended her vision, warmth, integrity, commitment to the adult student, grasp of the future issues facing higher education, proven accomplishments in distance learning, teaching experience in multiple institutions, and her service to diverse populations,” said Patricia A. Ladewig, Regis University’s vice president for Academic Affairs. “Others spoke highly of her proven leadership ability, passion for adult learning, experience managing a wide array of learning models, and her warm, engaging style.”
