March Session

A Dynamic Approach to Teaching Four-Hour Class Sessions
March 2, 2010
Dr. Joanna Dunlap

Dr. Joanna (Joni) Dunlap is an associate professor of instructional design and technology at the University of Colorado Denver campus. An award-winning educator, her teaching and research interests focus on the use of socio-cultural approaches to enhance adult learners’ development and experience in post-secondary settings. For over 12 years, she has directed, designed, delivered and facilitated distance and eLearning educational opportunities for a variety of audiences. She is also the University’s Faculty Fellow for Teaching, working through the Center for Faculty Development to help online and on-campus faculty enhance their teaching practice.

There were technical difficulties at the beginning of the recording for this day.  The following is a brief introduction to the recording.

Joni began by asking the faculty present at the event to reflect on their 4-hour class sessions, and work together in small group to list (on the wall charts) all of the items they could think of in terms of concerns they have about the format and the best practices they have found that work well in that format. After 10 minutes, the faculty was asked to look around the room at the different responses from faculty and debrief.
