Regis University utilizes a Learning Management System (LMS) for online courses. The LMS is called WorldClass. WorldClass is a versatile application that provides Regis University the ability to deliver courses throughout the world via the Internet. WorldClass offers the following list of features to assist faculty in the facilitation of the online course content and an asynchronous environment that addresses needs of adult learners.

FEATURE OVERVIEW:

  • Course Mail for private communication
  • Assignment Drop Box for private submission and grading of assignments
  • Reporting Tools for collecting student progress and participation
  • Discussion Forum to provide a robust interactive dialog with students
  • Chat Room for synchronous discussions

TOOLS AND FEATURES

The WorldClass Facilitator Guide is located at the following url:

NOTE: Save this as a bookmark or favorite in your browser for future reference. Refer to it periodically for any revisions that may have been made.

ASSIGNMENT DROP BOX:

Uploading electronic files to a Drop Box is a convenient way for students to submit assignments to their facilitator. The Drop Box accepts virtually any type of electronic file, including word processing documents, images, web pages, and more.

CHAT TOOL:

Considerations -

1. Live chat sessions cannot be required for a class grade since students live in different time zones.

2. Please inform students in advance when the chat will be held (in which room number) and the time (with time zone).

3. Direct students to the chat transcript so all students can benefit from the discussion and participants can have an archive.

COURSE MAIL:

Use the Course Mail to communicate with others within your course.  The Course Mail tool provides access to the HTML Editor and Spell Checker utilities, supports adding attachments, and allows the sender and recipients to monitor who has and has not read a message.

DISCUSSION FORUM:

The Discussion Forum is an integral part of the online learning experience.  Course facilitators must demonstrate the skill of constructing questions and evaluating the responses of participants.  In addition, you as the facilitator, must formulate constructive and timely feedback for your learners within the Discussion Forum. Both you and the students need to feel connected.  It is important to create a sense of community within the Discussion Forums.

REPORT FEATURES:

The Reports Console presents a wealth of data-mining opportunities in one central location.  This allows facilitators the flexibility of a full range of report options in a simple console interface that makes selecting components easy.  You can track all aspects of an individual learner, class, milestone, or specific content with the Report Console.

TEAMS:

The facilitator may want to create private areas for students to collaborate on projects or discussions related to the course project.  The Team feature allows for private collaboration as well as being able to share files, communicate, and once team work is completed, be able to share with the entire class.  Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
